On Monday, airports in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Kalaburagi received bomb threats via email, prompting immediate security responses. The threats, however, were later confirmed to be hoaxes.
Ahmedabad Airport Incident
The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad was one of the targeted locations. Security personnel, including local police and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), conducted a thorough search of the premises. Inspector SG Khambhala reported that after more than two hours of investigation, no suspicious items were found. This incident marks the second such false alarm since May 12, when a similar threat was also deemed a hoax.
Hyderabad's Begumpet Airport
In Hyderabad, Begumpet Airport received a similar bomb threat via email. The chief security officer, alerted by the claim of pipe bombs placed in various airport bathrooms, coordinated with local police for an extensive anti-sabotage operation. The search, which lasted several hours, concluded with no suspicious findings, confirming the threat as a hoax.
Kalaburagi Airport Threat
Kalaburagi Airport in Karnataka also faced a bomb threat on the same day. Police, along with bomb disposal and dog squads, conducted an immediate and thorough search of the premises. After hours of investigation, authorities declared the threat a hoax, finding no suspicious objects.
Pattern of False Threats
These incidents are part of a worrying trend of bomb threats targeting Indian institutions, including airports and schools, over the past few months. Despite the heightened security measures and extensive search operations that these threats prompt, they have all turned out to be false alarms.
Authorities continue to take every threat seriously, ensuring the safety of passengers and personnel while investigating the sources of these hoax emails.
